The Texans were one of the surprise teams last season, but has the rest of the league caught on now? Or, will Houston be right up there again as one of the franchises to beat in 2012?
There are some interesting questions in the Texans camp ahead of the start of the regular season.
First, is Matt Schaub going to revert to his pre-injury form? He missed a large chunk of time last year but was a prolific performer when fully healthy.
There are also some doubts about Andre Johnson too. He’s had to deal with injuries over the past few seasons too, yet when at 100 percent there are few wideouts in the league as deadly as AJ. How he performs with Schaub this season will be intriguing to track.
One thing the Texans don’t have to worry about? Their running back situation.
Arian Foster is back and ready to dominate opposing defenses once again, and his backup Ben Tate is hardly a slouch himself. Houston would be smart to continue focusing on the run with those two on the roster.
The Texans made vast improvements defensively last season under Wade Phillips – how will they follow that in 2012?
All things considered, Houston couldn’t have asked for a much better Week 1 draw as they get to play the Miami Dolphins at home. It’s hard to see any other outcome but a Texans win as part of the NFL picks for this weekend.
Rookie Ryan Tannehill will get his first taste of regular season action and he could be in for a long day. The Dolphins are short on true offensive weapons, especially when you size them up with the loaded Texans.
The spread has been moving ever since the opening line was released as it’s clear the public is liking the Texans. We like them to win pretty easily too.
